Situated at 100 King Street in the central conservation area, The Rex occupies the former Midland Bank, one of Manchester’s most distinguished buildings. Designed in 1928 by Sir Edwin Lutyens, its neoclassical form and subtle Art Deco detailing give it a presence that requires no introduction.
Behind its distinctive façade, a different kind of indulgence unfolds. Intimate rooms, elevated dining and discreet social spaces shape an atmosphere defined by character and intent.

Reign Restaurant
Located on the sixth floor, Reign is a destination restaurant defined by atmosphere, flavour, and perspective. With sweeping views across the city, the space blends contemporary design with subtle Art Deco influences creating a setting that feels both elegant and modern. Our menus and cocktails celebrate creativity, seasonality, and provenance, with ingredients carefully sourced from trusted local suppliers.
At Reign, expect a restaurant with real energy, a menu with attitude, and carefully curated wine list to complement every moment, from intimate dinners to vibrant celebrations.
Reserve
The jewel in the crown of The Rex, our Private Members’ Club is a rooftop destination designed for those who seek presence, privacy and prestige. Refined yet relaxed, it offers a setting where exclusivity feels natural and every arrival feels intentional.
The space unfolds across three independent wings, each with its own outdoor terrace - perfect for intimate gatherings, private celebrations or focused conversations under the open sky.
Treasury
Hidden within the former vaults of 100 King Street, Treasury is one of The Rex’s most exclusive event spaces, where heritage is reimagined through a modern, refined lens. Once a place of safekeeping, it now houses something far more valuable: unforgettable experiences.
It is a space to unlock exceptional moments from private dining, conference, cinematic screenings or bespoke celebrations, each carefully guarded, expertly crafted and impossible to replicate. Discreet, versatile and indulgent, Treasury is where your most prized occasions are stored and remembered.
Strongroom
Set behind original vault doors, two levels beneath The Rex, The Strong Room is a private dining space designed for those who value discretion, indulgence and individuality. Once built to protect assets, it now safeguards something far more valuable: time well spent.
At its center sits a full-size snooker table, ingeniously reimagined as a statement dining table, transforming from refined dining to playful competition in moments.
